Dear Friend,

Thanks for being a kindred spirit and fellow citizen of God's Kingdom!!

We believe the leadership of the church or ministry should be an open or transparent leadership. We don't mind sharing our weaknesses for God changes them into strengths. And, please remember we are always looking for opportunities to minister and teach. We live in the Atlanta area and gladly travel wherever brothers and sisters invite us, and God sends us. We do not care how big or small the church, we will come. I've ministered to a church with two people, the pastor and his wife, in Wichita, KS, and to thousands in miracle crusades in Africa.

Most know us through our posted messages/teachings, or the revival/deliverance meetings God has allowed us to lead, or the churches He has opened through our work, or perhaps just from reading our testimony.

We are not traditionalists, nor religionists. We’re just lowly servants of Almighty God and heirs with Jesus. Over the years God has sent me to the church with messages of correction and change. I love the church, but I love God more. And, quite frankly, I don't see enough of God in most churches. It remains difficult to earn a living as an evangelist, when I will not compromise God's Word.

Let me go back a little . . .

Those who know about life in the Midwest realize the popular image of Iowa farming communities as warm and friendly, a place where everyone knows your business, is basically true. I know a fellow who grew up in one of those typical small towns where high school sports and crop prices were subjects of coffee chatter.

His was very much a normal childhood within a family that lived on the outskirts of the local church. By that I mean the family was active in church programs, all were baptized, and even attended regularly -- every Easter and Christmas, that is. But, there was not a saved soul in the family. Yes, there are some who believe baptism alone saved them!

He grew up, went to college, married his high school sweetheart and proceeded to raise the "perfect" family in the old hometown. His wife's family got him involved in his childhood church, and soon he found himself preaching and teaching throughout Iowa while he was advancing up the corporate ladder in the secular world. However, all this success was evidence of his intellectual obedience not his spiritual renewal. Often on the drive home from a distant church service he cried out in confusion, searching for an answer. He was looking for a miraculous sign from God proving his salvation. Needless to say, that did not come; but finally, a pastor friend recognizing the truth, had the courage to quietly lead him to Christ.

He progressed rapidly from there with Jesus as his active Savior, but not as his active Lord. He kept hold of much of his past, good and bad, refusing to fully commit to Jesus the Lord. Eventually, as James talks about in the first chapter of his epistle, his evil desire grew into sin and he found himself nearing death. This distress is what I teach as . . .

The Wilderness Experience

Well, he sunk in his wilderness, losing his family, jobs and all self-respect. He wandered in the desert unable to find a way out. The more he ran, the more lost he became. He thought just giving up, not caring any more, would be the answer. It wasn't!

Finally, crying out in the despair of alcohol and loneliness, in the midst of preparing for suicide, he found God hadn't gone anywhere. The Lord was the only way out of the wilderness and since has shown him that the desert is not something he need go through again.

That's become his message to believers wherever he goes . . .

The Wilderness Is Not God's Will for You

If you or a loved one are lost in a wilderness -- be it sin or sickness, addiction or despair, guilt or fear, worry or any other lonely desert -- there is hope; there is a way to get out and stay out.

By the way, I know the fellow in our story, because that's me.

While searching for a way out of my wilderness, good intentioned pastors and counselors acknowledged the situation I was in but could only offer, "pray and be patient." Needless to say I've discovered more, and in fact, I've found the truth concerning the wilderness fills the Bible. I believe the Bible is truly a book about the wilderness experience from Genesis to Revelation.

The ministry God called me to is named Fire of Israel International Ministries (formerly Fly Like A Mighty Eagle Ministries). We have worked all over the world and throughout the USA. I've been a revival/deliverance preacher for nearly 40 years. I first became involved in the deliverance ministry out of necessity in the late 1960s, a time when there were few I could call on for help. When I first acknowledged this anointing, on a South Dakota Sioux Indian Reservation, I was ostracized by the mainstream church I was a member of, and saw the beginnings of trouble with my first wife. But, I felt compelled to rush in and stumble forward on my own, armed with my Bible and the Holy Spirit (not bad allies). I learned the hard way and gradually saw an increasing harvest of new souls and set free saints. At the same time my personal life was falling apart and soon I was divorced.

By 1995 I found myself broke, broken and on my way to New York City, where I was usually homeless or staying with the churches I taught at. I can still sense the fear as I slept in an alley in the South Bronx or spent the night riding on the subway or walking the streets of Harlem. At all times I gave glory to God and shared my praise with anyone I could. I grew to know God's protection covered me wherever I walked. I can remember the many times I was confronted by those not used to a little white man walking their streets. But, there was ALWAYS someone coming on the scene saying they know "Dr Z" or "The Rev" and he's okay. When I neared an area where activity was going on that I shouldn't be around, someone would walk up to me and say, "Dr Z, don't go that way tonight."

My season of work in New York City while very gratifying was also very frustrating and even painful. Eight years ago God blessed me with a wife (a New Yorker). I thought my family days were over (at the time I was 55), but God had other plans. And what a plan it was!! Let me just say about that, one day as I strolled through Prospect Park (Brooklyn) crying out to my best friend (when I walk and talk to God I often debate with the trees, so I won't argue with God!) :), I began seeing a young lady everywhere I looked. She was a person I mentored in the faith. I heard the Lord say that my wife was before me, and I was no longer to be alone. This caused me to yell at the trees!!!

My wife, Monique, is a beautiful black woman who grew up on the streets of New York. I'm a white, deliverance teacher who grew up on an Iowa farm. Most of my ministry has been to the black churches of the world, so race wasn't an issue, except with my family back in Iowa, and her family in New York. No matter, God brought us together and later gave us a wonderful daughter and son.

The churches we worked with in New York pretty much closed their doors to us. When Monique's company gave her the chance in 2001 to transfer to Tampa, Florida, we jumped at it. During that time we visited churches, but we did not find a home. We love the church, but we are disappointed in what man has done with it. God has called and ordained us to work within the church, and we will at every chance, but sometimes it's very difficult. We are foremost soul winners and disciplers of church leaders. Despite all the years and heartaches, we are still on fire for God and His church. That makes us very demanding and even hard on His servants leading the church. He gave me a word for the church when I first arrived in New York (1995), and it still is valid. It's just two words... EXCELLENCE and URGENCY. That's what He is calling the church everywhere to exhibit and be today.

Through the Holy Spirit I have battled the enemy all over the world. I have gone into combat against the spirits and demons of Voodoo, Shango, Macumba, Santeria, various New Age groups, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Roman Catholicism, Islam, Rastafarianism, Hinduism, various local witch covens, satanism, so-called Christian cults, Shamanism and many others. I’ve been battered and bruised, but through the power and authority granted by Jesus, I’ve never been on the losing side.

We continue to study each and everyday. Doctorates do not measure the depth of a person's commitment to prepare him/herself to be approved. Our study no longer takes the path of organized education, but of an ever-deepening relationship of revelation with God. He disciples us each day through quiet time, through studying His Word, through His awesome creation, through others He places before us. Though holding multiple degrees and a certain amount of wisdom and knowledge, I learn a great amount every time I hear another speak. I can be tunnel visioned in what I hold to be true, but I am always open to more teaching.

We regularly spend time developing and preparing seminars and/or books, as the Spirit leads. These efforts lead to intense research, study and thought.

A few Accomplishments of the Holy Spirit through us:

Started and oversee over 50 churches, 5 Bible colleges, numerous missions and work with over 200 pastors in Haiti, Trinidad, India, Nepal, the Philippines, Ghana, Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, Zambia, Kenya, Ivory Coast and Cameroon.
Worked with several pastors in the USA.
Ministered in churches, at crusades and under tents in 15 nations and throughout the USA.
Developed and taught throughout the world Excellence In The Church seminars.
Started and had oversight of hundreds of home cell groups with thousands of members in numerous churches.
Worked in prison ministries in three states and four nations.
Taught team leadership seminars for churches and businesses across the nation.
Authored 6 books. Currently working on 2 more.

Lately, God has been dealing with us about the Revival and Deliverance of God's people . . . all His people.

This upsets some, but He is saying to look away from today's church and focus on Him and His desire for the lost. We know it is time to quit "playing church" and to start "being church." It is time to stop focusing on the church and to start giving God all your attention. Many will say you should do that through the church. We've come to believe that with today's church that is difficult. Are we saying stop going to church? NO! We’re saying come closer to God and start changing the church through Kingdom thinking.

A few years ago as I prepared to teach another Effective Soul Winning seminar, I was asked by a pleasant looking, elderly lady, "Why go out into the streets for people when every Sunday several visitors come to church?" Oh, I could have replied about it being the command of Jesus, or that God would eventually stop the flow of visitors if they didn’t go out into the streets; but still, why do it if your church is growing as is? What would the Apostle Paul have said? Well, I tell you, I’ve looked close at the gospels, especially the book of Acts, our traditional guide to soul winning. I’ve read historical accounts from Josephus to see how the church operated during Paul’s time. You know what? I could not find one reference to announcing visitors at the end of service, or about altar calls, or a show of hands for the unsaved or backslidden, or even of sinner’s prayer. How did they win souls for Christ? How did they know when someone was saved? Not by waiting for them to visit the church!

The world of Paul’s time was much like today. Now they didn’t spend Sunday afternoon on the couch watching a ball game while the women went to the mall, but they did spend it in their own ways with the same basic needs and desires as you and me. They were comfortable in their ways and so were the establishment churches. Then along came Paul and his band "turning the world upside down" (Acts 17:6).

Well, it’s the same world today. Only the world is already upside down, they just don’t know it. It is wrong side up and needs to be turned right side up. We, you and me, are the people to turn it right side up. We are Paul’s band today. It is our job, not Billy Graham’s, not Benny Hinn’s, not T.D. Jake’s, not our pastor’s, it’s our job. Angels don’t witness, we do – men, women and children. Jesus has no other plan for saving the world than us. It is our job, our call, God’s will that we (all of us) witness and win souls for His kingdom.

It is time for today’s church to have the same notoriety as the church of James, Peter, John and Paul. What did the church have then that is lacking today?

The first soul winning strategy for the church was and has to be PRAYER. It is the foundation stone that comes before, during and after any other work and continues to support the life of the church. The early church knew the truth . . . . . .

Acts 1:13-14 the beginning of the church.
Acts 2:1-4 the empowerment of the church.
Acts 2:41 the result of prayer and empowerment.
Acts 2:42-46 the continuation of daily prayer.
Acts 2:47 the result of continuing in prayer.

The church went to the streets after (and during continued) prayer. They took to heart Jesus’ command, "Go ye . . . " This became their vision, their mission statement.

Jesus lit a fire in them and they lit a fire in the church. They went forth and preached everywhere! The fire Jesus lit is the Vision of Victory and it still burns bright in many churches. When you cut through the dogmas and traditions, the rites and rituals, you still find the vision for evangelizing the world smoldering just beneath the surface waiting for a fresh wind to reignite it.

Today, Jesus might say, "Bring my vision to the surface and go ye." Paul and his band went and turned the world upside down. Today, you and your band can go out and turn your world right-side up.

Go ye!
